12 Feb / Grab Some Kleenex, Tear Jerking Ahead

This stunningly beautiful short documentary is presented by Facebook Stories. We feel this is one of the most breathtaking examples of the power of story telling, the unifying potential of social media, and the immeasurable difference one can person can make.

One woman’s courage to see beyond the appearance of a homeless man, has unfolded into a beautiful story. Raimundo Arruda Sobrinho has lived  in São Paulo, Brazil, for nearly 35 years, and became locally known for sitting in the same spot and writing every day. “The Island” is a thin grassy median, surrounded by the rush of 2-way traffic, and shaded by few small trees. This is the place Raimundo called home. As a person who would commonly be avoided for fear of an awkward or dangerous encounter, this man lived a solitary life. No one would have expected the beautiful verses he was writing day after day. In April 2011, he was befriended by a young woman named Shalla Monteiro. Impressed by his poetry and wanting to help him with his dream of publishing a book, she created a Facebook Page to feature Raimundo’s writing. Neither could have expected what happened next. This is a story of the amazing power of social media and the ever-expanding web that connects us all.

Shalla continues to share Raimundo’s writings on his facebook page HERE

visions we love

A huge piece of American culture is being forgotten, this woman aims to shoot it all

For the past year Matika Wilbur has been fulfilling the goal of photographing citizens of each federally recognized tribe in the United States (there are now 566). She has visited many geographically remote reservations to take portraits, and hear stories from a myriad of tribes. Her hope is that when the project is complete, it will serve to educate the nation and shift the collective consciousness toward recognizing our own indigenous communities. Imagine walking through an exhibit and realizing the complex variety of contemporary Native America. Imagine experiencing a website or book, that offered insight into every Tribal Nation in the United States. What if you could download previously untold histories and stories from Apaches, Swinomish, Hualapai, Northern Cheyenne, Tlingit, Pomo, Lumbee, and other first peoples? What if you had heard those stories in grade school?  Project 562 is making all this happen.

The Neural Pathway To Love

Just in time for Valentines Day! This is an invitation to join me and a host of experts on a seriously awesome free online summit. Here’s what’s up: I’ve been invited to speak about the two subjects I’m most passionate about: media and love! As most of my friends know, I am blessed to be married to my soulmate, and for the fact that in 11 years we’ve NEVER HAD A SINGLE FIGHT. (Wha??) How is this possible, most people ask. I love this question as it allows me to share what I’ve learned from working with the world’s top experts from behind the camera for the past decade. As a filmmaker who is solely focused on human transformation, I’ve had the rare opportunity to spend intimate time with just about every notable love and relationship expert alive. This has allowed me to combine my knowledge of media and how it effects our human system, with practical tools to help redesign our lives and quantum leap our relationships to a new and higher place. I’m honored to be among 20 of the world’s top experts in this emergent field – including people like Dean Ornish, Bruce Lipton, Debbie Rosas and Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks – who will help you discover the thrill of embodied living. I am extremely excited about this event and I hope you take the opportunity to tune in. PLEASE take the time, MAKE the time to be part of this breakthrough event. We’re going DEEP!

I will be speaking this Thursday, February 13th from 2:00pm – 2:45pm Pacific Time in a Google chat.

2014UnstopGALA

The World Bank estimates that achieving primary education for every child would cost only $11B to $15B a year. We spent twice that in the US last year on ice cream, and three times that feeding our pets..

The Unstoppable Gala is an event we never miss! Last year, for the first time Elevate sponsored a table and invited our community to join us. We had a blast and everyone left completely high on inspiration! If you would like to join us for what will be a deeply inspirational evening, purchase your tickets now directly from the Unstoppable site listed on the link below. Due to the popularity of the event, this time we only have 10 seats available at the Elevate table. They will go fast! Reserve yours now! Come see why people are calling it “The Oscars of Transformation.”  Your participation and generosity at the GALA will go towards helping the Unstoppable Foundation to expand their mission and ability to achieve their goal of bringing education to an additional 5,000 children in 2014. Let’s see what we can create together for these children. We look forward to spending a magical evening with you! Please do let your friends and colleagues know about the event. They’ll be glad you did!100% of the proceeds go directly to the Unstoppable mission. We are in full support of this amazing team and the work they’re doing. Let’s get elevated together! Hope to see you there!

Love,

Elevate
